These letters home from soldiers of WWI (or the Great War as it was known at the time) were originally published in the Baraboo News Republic. Scans of portions of the original letters, along with typed transcriptions of each letter are included on these pages. Photos, where available, are also included. Many of the original letters were marked with the editor's pencil to correct spelling or grammar and indicate which segments would appear in the paper. The Republic's editor at the time was H. E. Cole.
