Native American Room This room was originally the master bed room. The light fixture on the ceiling did belong to the Van Orden Family though it might not have been originally located in this room. The exhibits in this room focus on the long and varied experience of Native Americans in Sauk County. Beginning with the mound builders, the exhibit showcases the fur trade, the treaty period, the removal period, the late 19th century and will eventually contain a exhibit on the HoChunk in Sauk County today. The collections display some of the rarest pieces of the Society's collections including ancient native artifacts, and personal items of Chief Yellow Thunder, a notable leader of the HoChunk Community who used unusual methods to oppose the removal of his people from this region.
