History Center
The Baraboo Woolen Mill Office Building as it appeared in 2006
On December 19, 2006, the Sauk County Historical Society acquired the building from the City of Baraboo for $1.00. After extensive renovation, it will be transformed into the Sauk County History Center. Much work will be involved in this transformation. The structure will need exterior tuck pointing, new windows and a new roof. The interior needs heating/air conditioning, new wall and floor coverings, and lighting. A monumental project for the Society, to say the least, but we are up to the job. Watch this site for further updates on our progress.
Society president, Paul Wolter begins the work of renovating the lower floor. Eventually, this will become the main artifact display area.
The Main Floor will become the Research Area of the History Center, housing some of the Society's extensive collection of county records, newspapers, and genealogical research materials.
